A couple from Cheyenne are facing felony child endangering and drug charges following a traffic stop and search of their home.

Traffic Stop Leads to Fentanyl

According to booking sheets, police arrested 34-year-old Nicholas Allen Rierson at 3:50 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 13, after stopping him at East Pershing Boulevard and Big Horn Avenue.

Police say during the course of the traffic stop, Rierson was found to be in possession of 22 grams of suspected fentanyl pills.

Police say Rierson's young daughter was also in the vehicle with him.

Search Warrant Leads to Meth, Fentanyl

A search warrant was conducted at Rierson's home in the 100 block of Jefferson Road and 477 grams of methamphetamine, and 116 grams of fentanyl were reportedly found.

Police say Rierson's wife, 34-year-old Jessie Larae Rierson, admitted to knowing the drugs were in the home and being sold around their daughter by her husband.

She was arrested at 8 p.m.

A Combined 7 Felony Charges

The two were booked into the Laramie County Detention Center and both subsequently charged with felony possession of fentanyl, a crime punishably by up to seven years in prison, up to a $15,000 fine, or both; and felony child endangering, a crime punishable by up to five years in prison, up to a $5,000 fine, or both.

Nicholas was also charged with possession with intent to deliver fentanyl and methamphetamine, both felonies punishable by up to 20 years in prison, up to a $25,000 fine, or both.

And Jessie was also charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, a crime punishably by up to seven years in prison, up to a $15,000 fine, or both.

Initial Court Appearances

On Thursday, Oct. 16, the Riersons were seen in Laramie County Circuit Court in front of Judge TJ Forwood on the charges.

Forwood appointed both of them public defenders and set Nicholas' bond at $100,000 cash and Jessie's at $50,000 cash.

The two are scheduled to be back in court for their preliminary hearings on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 3 p.m.
