A 38-year-old Cheyenne man has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term following a police investigation which revealed he'd been sexually abusing a minor.

According to a Cheyenne Police Department Facebook post, David Johnson was recently sentenced in Laramie County District Court to 12 to 16 years in prison for second-degree sexual abuse of a minor.

Case Background

Detectives began investigating Johnson on Jan. 16, after an officer was dispatched to a report of a sexual assault involving a minor.

"Investigators were able to determine that David Johnson had abused a minor multiple times from 2023 to 2025," the post reads.

Johnson was arrested on Jan. 28 and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center on charges related to the assault.
