Cheyenne Frontier Days officials plan to keep the Thunderbirds air show at F.E. Warren Air Force Base for the "foreseeable future," according to Military Chairman Col. Brian Rico.

"Quite honestly, there's no other great options within the city limits," said Rico.

Officials had to move this year's show because of the Sweetgrass development going in south of Laramie County Community College, and Rico says it just made sense to move it back to the base.

"From what I understand, we had no hiccups at the gate," said Rico.  "It was just a surge of folks that came in after 8 a.m."

"I think everything went well, (considering) the last time that they were here was 1996," he added.

Many of the 5,237 attendees took to Facebook, some thanking the base for their hospitality and others complaining that they waited an hour or more to get back to their vehicles.

"We're going to learn from this year's show (and) continue to make it a better show for everybody," said Rico.

"As we move forward, I am going to see if we can broadcast it somehow for those that can't make it to the base," he added.
