Robbery Attempt Leaves Victim Injured in Cheyenne
Two men are being held on $5,000 cash bonds after allegedly injuring a man while attempting to rob him.
According to booking sheets, police arrested Robert Jon Averett, 36, of Cheyenne, and Sasha S. Courtney, 29, of Rapid City, South Dakota, at East 13th Street and Crook Avenue in Cheyenne on Thursday, Sept. 18.

It's alleged the two attempted to steal, take away, carry, lead or drive away money or property from the victim, and during the course of that crime, inflicted bodily injury upon the victim.
Averett and Courtney were booked into the Laramie County Detention Center and both subsequently charged with attempted robbery with bodily injury, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Initial Court Appearances
The following afternoon, Sept. 19, the two were seen in Laramie County Circuit Court in front of Judge Sean C. Chambers.
Bonds Set at $5K Cash
Chambers appointed both Averett and Courtney a public defender and, after hearing from the state about the men's criminal history, set their bonds at $5,000 cash.
The two are scheduled to be back in court for their preliminary hearings on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 2:15 p.m.
Please remember that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
