UPDATE:

As of 3:23 p.m., power has been restored.

Black Hills Energy says the cause of the outage was equipment related.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Black Hills Energy says it's working to restore power to approximately 4,050 customers in downtown Cheyenne.

"The outage is affecting locations between Lincolnway and Pershing Avenue and also in the area of 8th Avenue," company spokeswoman Laurie Farkas told KGAB Radio.

Police say the traffic lights in the area are out, and they're asking drivers who come upon an inoperable traffic light to treat the intersection like a four-way stop.

Farkas says electric crews have been dispatched in order to investigate the cause and begin making repairs.

"We estimate the restoration time to be approximately one hour," she said.
