Townsquare Media recently spoke with event organizers Nathaniel Trelease and Sean Ambrose about the Capital City Celebration of the 250th birthday.

You can hear that interview in the audio file attached to this article below.

Trelease says he was approached by Cheyenne Mayor Patrick Collins in Sept. of 2024 to about heading up the celebration. Trelease had previously headed up the Capitol Avenue Bronze Project in Cheyenne.

Sean Ambose was the music coordinator in Laramie County School District#1 for 27 years. He's also been involved with the Cheyenne Symphony and has been executive director of the Cheyenne Chamber singers.

Parade Will Be Different Than Other Cheyenne Parades

Trelease said he approached the project with the idea of taking traditional American Celebrations and adopting them to the history and culture of Wyoming. In regard to the parade says ''We're not following the pattern of the Christmas Parade or the CFD Festival. We're not following any of those. We are doing something different."

He says there will be a heavy military emphasis in the parade, including marching formations, military machines, local dignitaries and six musical groups, including at least three marching bands who were recruited by Ambrose for the event.

Trelease says Governor Gordon will formally kick of the celebration between 1 and 2 p.m. on the steps of the state capitol.
