UPDATE: F.E. Warren Airman Killed in Humvee Incident Identified
F.E. Warren Air Force Base has identified the airman killed in Saturday evening's Humvee incident as Trinity Reinhart of Eugene, Oregon.
The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. near Grover, Colorado, about 50 miles southeast of Cheyenne.
Another airman was also involved but, fortunately, was not seriously injured.
According to a follow-up release from the base, Reinhart had been assigned to F.E. Warren since May 19, 2023.
"We offer our deepest condolences to Trinity’s family and friends,” said 90th Security Forces Group Commander Col. Justin Secrest.
"Losing one of our own is extremely difficult," Secrest added. "We are grateful for the support from our surrounding communities during this heartbreaking time, especially the Colorado first responders who assisted at the scene."
The Air Force initiated an Interim Safety Board immediately after the mishap -- the term for any unintended occurrence in the Air or Space Force that results in death, injury, illness, or property damage -- to gather the facts surrounding the incident.
The base says a Safety Investigation Board will be convened to determine the cause of the crash and to recommend measures necessary to prevent future mishaps.
