United Way of Laramie County has announced a $102, 500 matching funds challenge for it's annual fundraising drive.

Under the program donations made to the annual fundraising effort will be matched,  doubling the value of the donation. For example, if a $500 donation is made, that amount will be matched, leading to a total donation of $1000 to United Way of Laramie County.

The $102, 500  challenge fund was created by a variety of local organizations ranging from Cheyenne Regional Medical Center to Cheyenne Frontier Days to several local businesses.

Fundraising drive co-chairs Renee and Pat Ashworth have also announced matching fund of $5,000 specifically aimed at Laramie County small businesses. The Ashworths own Express Professional Services.

United Way of Laramie County Executive Director Connie Sloan-Cathcart says United Way of Laramie County Executive Director Connie Sloan-Cathcart says the organization helps fund over 25 local charities ranging from the Boys&Girls Club to the CASA program to the Comea Shelter.

Ashworth says that at a time when many worthwhile organizations may be asking for donations, she thinks United Way is a good choice because of the variety of groups it helps and because all of the money raised helps local residents.
