Commander (CDR) Noel J. Gonzlez, commanding officer of the U.S.S. Cheyenne (SSN 773) Los Angeles class submarine was in Cheyenne on Friday to speak at the Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee luncheon. Commander Gonzalez said the relationship between the community of Cheyenne and the crew of the boat, is something special.

Crew members from the U.S.S. Cheyenne routinely visit their namesake city during Cheyenne Frontier Days. Commander Gonzalez said he is planning on visiting during this year's celebration.

The U.S.S. Cheyenne is a fast attack nuclear-powered submarine based at Pearl Harbor. She was launched on April 16, 1995 and commissioned on September 12, 1996.
