The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service says we could see some rain on Friday and Saturday before a blast of hot weather on Sunday and especially Monday.

The agency posted this statement on its website on Thursday evening:

''August 29th Evening Update: Here is your holiday weekend outlook. Other than one or two thunderstorms Saturday afternoon across the eastern plains, mainly dry and very warm weather is expected Saturday through Labor Day with highs in the upper 80s to middle 90s for most areas. Showers and thunderstorms will return to the area on Tuesday with a slight cooling trend."
