Cheyenne Police Stepping Up St. Patrick’s Day Weekend Patrols
If you choose to drink and drive this St. Patrick's Day weekend you may be seeing the boys in blue and handing over your green.
Cheyenne Police Department spokesman Officer Kevin Malatesta says the agency will be working with the Laramie County Sheriff's Office, Wyoming Highway Patrol and Wyoming State Parks to look for impaired drivers.
"We will not have our DUI van out this weekend, but we'll still have officers out there," he said. "This is something that's going on throughout the state, it's not just here in Cheyenne."
Malatesta urges those who plan on drinking to designate a sober driver and leave their car keys at home.
"Don't get behind the wheel if you've had something to drink," he said. "There are so many easy ways to get a ride home with Uber, Lift, taxis, public transportation, friends, bicycles, pogo sticks, whatever you want to take."
Malatesta also urges people to call 911 or local law enforcement if they suspect someone is driving drunk.
