Planting Tips Based On Cheyenne And Laramie Freeze Dates
The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service says today (May 13) is Cheyenne's typical last-freeze date. Laramie, meanwhile, has a typical last-freeze date of June 7.
The agency posted the following on its Facebook page:
''Spring is in the air this week, but are we totally done with freezing temperatures? As you start to think about planting your frost-sensitive vegetation outside, take a look at these statistics concerning what is normal for a few locations across our area. For more details and more locations, please visit weather.gov/cys/springfreezestats
For most areas east of I-25, the average last freeze occurs between May 8 and May 15, but in some years this can occur as late as the end of May or even early June. Areas west of I-25 such as Laramie and Rawlins usually have to wait until early June to see the last sub-freezing morning.''
