An online poll conducted by the Townsquare Media of Cheyenne websites on Wednesday, Thursday and early Friday morning found a big majority of respondents feel  Cheyenne Animal Shelter [CAS] CEO Bob Fecht got off with a ''slap on the wrist" for ordering the pepper spraying of a dog.

Earlier this week the CAS board announced Fecht would be suspended for 60 days without pay for ordering the pepper spraying of Tanner, an 8-month old pit bull mix. The dog had bitten a shelter employee the day before the pepper spraying incident and was later euthanized. In our online poll, 81 percent of respondents agreed with the statement that the punishment amounted to a slap on the wrist.

Another 11 percent thought the punishment was fair, while five percent thought the punishment was too harsh. Three percent said they were tired of the discussion and didn't care.

As of Friday morning, 483 people had answered the poll. Online polls are not considered scientific because they are open to anyone who chooses to answer, rather than being weighted for demographics to match the general population.
