Laramie County School District #2 has a new superintendent.

Jon Abrams officially started his duties on July 1.

"I'm just excited to be here and excited to be a part of this district," said Abrams. "I look forward to getting to know the community and the people I'm going to be working with."

Abrams comes from Star Valley, where he served as Lincoln County School District #2 Superintendent for ten years.

"I enjoyed my time on the west side of the state and now I'm looking forward to enjoying some time on the east side," said Abrams.

Abrams says he wants to make sure that the decisions being made are always student focused.

"We will make decisions in this district based on what is best for students," said Abrams. "Sometimes that makes adults, including myself, a little bit uncomfortable because we're used to doing things a certain way and we want our students to be the best in the state, we want them to be able to compete in the nation and in a world where school does matter."

Abrams replaces Superintendent Jack Cozart, who announced his retirement in December.
