Moving to a new town can be difficult, especially when you're young and you don't know many people.

This week, Cheyenne residents are giving a warm welcome to our newest resident, the Lions Park Bald Eagle. For at least the past 10 days, this eagle has been camping out in and around the park.

Based on these pictures, it appears to be an adolescent, probably between three to four years old. Typically, their beaks will turn yellow around the age of five. At that time, they will shed the brown and grey feathers on their heads and their tail feathers will turn white.

According to several visitors at Lions Park yesterday, this is the fist time they've seen a bald eagle take up residence at the park for such a long period of time.

It probably won't be long until the eagle flies north for the spring and summer. In the meantime, let's hope the magnificent creature enjoys its stay in Cheyenne.
