Man Arrested In Cheyenne Shooting Saturday Night
A 49-year-old man was arrested by Cheyenne Police in connection with the shooting of another man on Imperial Court on Dec. 23 (Saturday), according to a post on the CPD Facebook page.
According to the release, 49-year-old Timothy Leners was visiting 45-year-old Joyce Trout at 5419 Imperial Court at little before 8 p.m. on Saturday. Leners got into an argument with Joyce's husband, 53-year-old Chris Trout, that turned into a physical fight outside the home.
Police say that while the two men were fighting, Leners pulled out a 9 mm handgun and shot Trout in the chest. Police were called to the home at about 7:50 p.m. and Trout was rushed to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
He is expected to recover, according to the release.
Officers found Leners standing outside his car across the street from the home, and found a 9 mm handgun on the car. Leners was arrested for aggravated assault and taken to the Laramie County Jail.
