A 40-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after reportedly breaking down a camper door and hitting a man.

According to a booking sheet, police were called to a family verbal at 224 McFarland Ave. around 1 a.m. on July 22, 2024.

Police say they contacted Floyd R. Velasquez who had been in a physical fight with Zackary Mondello.

Velasquez reportedly told police that his son called him saying Mondello was beating up his mom.

Police say Velasquez said he saw the camper moving around and heard yelling, but didn't see anything, and admitted to breaking down the camper door and hitting Mondello.

Police say Mondello had visible marks on his face and Velasquez had blood on his hands.

Cheyenne Man Arrested, Charged With Felony Property Destruction After Police Called to Family Verbal

Velasquez was arrested and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center, and subsequently charged with felony property destruction, a crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both.

He made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on July 22, 2024, during which his bond was set at $2,000 cash at 10%, which he later posted, and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for Aug. 12, 2024, at 10 a.m.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
