Police say they contacted the described female, later identified as Aleisha Marie Jackson, and asked her if she had stolen a cell phone, to which she replied, "Yes."

Jackson then reportedly produced an iPhone 15 and was arrested.

Police say the reporting party and victim told them she had given Jackson a ride from Big Lots at 3501 E. Lincolnway to the intersection of Converse Avenue and East Lincolnway at about 2:30 p.m.

She said she was unable to locate her iPhone 15, valued at approximately $1,500, and was able to track the cell phone and had Facetime called it and Jackson answered it.

Jackson was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center, where she was booked on a single count of felony theft, a crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both.

Her total bond was set at $2,500 cash and her preliminary hearing and arraignment were scheduled for July 31, 2024, at 3:30 p.m.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
