Lockdown at Cheyenne Elementary School Leads to Early Release
Due to a domestic disturbance, Alta Vista Elementary School in Cheyenne was placed in a green lockdown at 9:25 a.m. this (Friday) morning.
Laramie County School District 1 spokeswoman Cindy Reynders didn't have details about the situation, but said students who were outside were brought inside and the school conducted classes in their regular fashion.
Cheyenne elementary students normally get out of school at 3:30 p.m., but LCSD1 says law enforcement directed the school to release students around 3 p.m.
Cheyenne Police Department spokesman Sgt. David Janes says a county resident, earlier this week, made a vague threat against the school for Friday.
Calls to the Laramie County Sheriff's Department seeking more information were not immediately returned.
Buses didn't run and parents or authorized designees had to pick up their students.
