Laramie County Sheriff’s Department to Hold Prescription Drug Take Back on April 29
Local law enforcement agencies will be collecting unwanted and unused prescription drugs on Saturday, April 29.
"The purpose of the Drug Take Back Program is for citizens of Laramie County to safely dispose of any type of prescription drugs or any other non-narcotic drugs that they have," said Laramie County Sheriff's Department spokesman Captain Linda Gesell.
"That way they don't throw them in their garbage for other people to take, flush them down the toilet or put them down the disposal," she added.
The Sheriff's Department will be at Town & Country Pharmacy at 514 S. Greeley Highway and Laramie County Fire District #2 at 5800 N. College from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"No illegal drugs, sharps, thermometers, no oxygen containers, no radioactive materials, nothing in a pressurized canister or any type of chemotherapy drugs will be accepted," said Gesell.
Gesell says the department has collected over 1,500 pounds of prescription drugs since starting the program more than five years ago.
