Laramie County Fire District #2 firefighters responded to a grass fire at about 11:19 AM Sunday morning at 2368 County Road 216. The fire, started by fireworks, burned approximately 5 acres on pasture land with 30 head of cattle. Hot dry conditions and winds caused the fire to spread but it was knocked down quickly with mutual aid from LCFD1, Warren Air Force Base and the Air National Guard. There were 5 brush trucks and 2 tenders battling the fire. All units were cleared at 1:30 PM.

LCFD#2 would like to remind the public to use caution when dealing with fireworks, controlled burns or disposing of hot ashes that could ignite nearby grass. The weather has been consistently hot and dry making the conditions prime for grass and wildland fires.
