Guajardo Changes Plea In Cheyenne Murder Case
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A man charged with fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend and wounding her boyfriend in Cheyenne has pleaded not guilty by reason of mental illness or deficiency.
The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports that Daniel Guajardo changed his plea last week after initially pleading not guilty to murder and attempted murder in connection with the April 2015 shooting.
Guajardo is accused of fatally shooting Janessa Spencer and wounding her boyfriend after breaking into the woman's Cheyenne home.
He was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation at the Wyoming State Hospital last year and found competent to stand trial.
