Continuance Granted in Cheyenne Murder Case
A federal judge has granted a continuance in the case against a Cheyenne man accused of killing a 19-year-old, torching his SUV and dumping his body in a reservoir southeast of Cheyenne.
Armando Ramirez-Serna appeared in custody before U.S. Magistrate Judge Kelly H. Rankin this (Monday) morning, but his attorney, Tracy Hucke, asked that his preliminary and detention hearings be continued.
Judge Rankin granted the request, resetting both hearings for June 20 at 1:30 p.m.
Ramirez-Serna is charged with interference with commerce by robbery, use and discharge of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence causing death, use and discharge of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence and use of fire to commit misprision of a felony.
He's accused of shooting Justin Robinson in the head while trying to rob him of a half-pound of marijuana.
Robinson's body was found in a reservoir on the Wyoming Hereford Ranch on Nov. 26. His burnt SUV was found nearby.
Ramirez-Serna could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted.
