Flood Advisories In Effect For Fremont County [Video]

Unfortunately, there are more flood warnings out for Fremont County today.

The National Weather Service has posted a pair of flood advisories for Fremont Couty:

The National Weather Service in Riverton has extended the

* flood advisory for... 
  northeastern Fremont County in central Wyoming... 

* until 915 am MDT Saturday

* emergency management reports that flooding caused by construction 
  of an irrigation headgate is still flooding at least one Lane of 
  Highway 132 (blue sky highway) near the south side of the Kinnear 
  bridge. Wydot is at the scene directing traffic through the open 
  one Lane.

* The Wind River from Kinnear to downstream of Riverton wast still 
  running at high levels Wednesday morning.  Increased snowmelt 
  runoff in the upper Wind River basin will increase flows in the 
  lower wind basin Wednesday evening through Friday night. 

* At 9 am Wednesday morning, the Wind River near Kinnear was near 
  8.0 feet. Minor flood stage is 9.0 feet. The river to rise to near 
  8.3 feet Wednesday night and continue to rise to near 8.5 feet by 
  Thursday night. Minor flood stage is 9.0 feet.

* At 9 am Wednesday morning, the Wind River at Riverton was running 
  at 9.2. Minor flood stage is 9.0 feet. The river is expected to 
  rise to near 9.5 feet by early Thursday morning and then rise to 
  near 9.7 feet by early Friday morning. Continued flooding of low 
  lying areas will continue near Riverton downstream to the black 
  bridge area. 

Precautionary/preparedness actions... 

Motorists need to heed warning signs and wydot personnel when 
traveling Highway 132 south of the Kinnear bridge.

A flood advisory means that flows along the Wind River are elevated 
and flooding of low lying areas is occurring or is imminent.


The Second Advisory remains in effect until Friday.

The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a

* flood advisory for... 
  snowmelt in...  
  west central Fremont County in central Wyoming... 

* until 830 PM MDT Friday

* warmer afternoon mountain temperatures Wednesday through Friday 
  will increase snowmelt runoff into the upper Wind River through 
  Friday.

* Minor flooding of low lying areas along the Wind River from the 
  DuNoir valley downstream to he confluence of the Wind River and 
  the East Fork of the Wind River will continue through Friday 
  afternoon. 

* At 830 am, the Wind River near DuBois was near 5.1 feet. Minor 
  flood stage is at 5.0 feet. The river is expected to rise to 5.3 
  feet by early Thursday morning. The river is then expected to 
  fluctuate around 5.1 to 5.3 feet through Friday afternoon. Minor 
  flooding of low lying areas in and around DuBois usually occurs at 
  river levels of 5.0 to 5.3 feet.  

Precautionary/preparedness actions... 

A flood advisory means the Wind River flows are elevated, and minor 
flooding of low lying areas is occurring or is imminent.

can do so safely.
