Hail, Winds Of 60 MPH Plus Possible In Southeast Wyoming
There is good news and bad news in the weather forecast for southeast Wyoming today [July 15].
That's according to the Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service.
The good news is that while temperatures will remain hot, we will get a break in the 95-degree-plus weather we have recently seen.
The bad news is that some areas could see some severe storms. The agency posted the following on its website:
As some of you start your week off today, keep an eye to the sky this afternoon and evening. We will begin to see an increase in shower and thunderstorm activity after 12pm. Thunderstorms will move from west to east, with 2-8pm being the timeline of stronger thunderstorms in SE WY, and 4-10pm for the timeline of stronger thundertsorms for the NE Panhandle. Wind gusts in excess of 60mph and dangerous lightning are the primary concerns for the strongest of thunderstorms. The strongest of thunderstorms will also be capable of producing brief downpours. One other concern is that there may be the potential of dry thunderstorms west of the Laramie Range this afternoon before we transition to a higher potential for wetting rainfall in excess of a tenth of an inch.
