Cheyenne Seeks Your Thoughts On New Downtown Parking Stripes
The City of Cheyenne is asking for public feedback on new striped parking spaces that are being used in part of the downtown area.
That's according to a post on the City of Cheyenne Facebook page.
According to the post, the pilot program was launched in response to comments from the public
Striped parking spaces have been set up in a "four-block area from Lincolnway to 18th Street and Carey Avenue to Central Avenue, as well as 17th Street from Central to Warren"
What Are The Alleged Advantages Of Striped Parking Spaces?
In theory the striped spaces will improve visibility and maximize the available parking spaces. That's especially true for parallel spaces.
According to a Michigan company, B&E Coating Services LLC, striped spaces look better, reduce door dings by clearly delineating where to park, and reduce liability for the same reason. It says the striped spaces also improve safety and boost curb appeal.
It should be mentioned that the company operating that website does parking lot striping work, so they may not be an unbiased source of information.
In regard to the City of Cheyenne Facebook post, city officials think that with the new striped spaces having been in place for several weeks, residents have had enough time to use the new spaces and form an opinion on the subject..
You can access a city survey on the striped spaces here. The survey takes about 3-5 minutes to complete and will be open until Dec. 12.
