Cheyenne Woman Charged With Strangulation, Domestic Battery
A 42-year-old Cheyenne woman is facing a felony charge after allegedly trying to strangle a woman she'd been dating for about a year.
According to a booking sheet, police were called to a report of a physical domestic at 9:48 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, and contacted Trisha Lizeth Rodriguez and the alleged victim, who they say had separated before their arrival.
Domestic Violence Call Leads to Felony Charge
Police say Rodriguez told them she started the altercation, however, there was no physical fight.
Police say Rodriguez had a ripped shirt and a scratch on the top of her right hand and forearm.
Police say the alleged victim told them Rodriguez came into the bedroom and was arguing with her and then began trying to strangle her.
Police say the alleged victim had marks on her neck and a scratch down the center of her chest.
Police say both parties told them they'd been dating for about a year.
Rodriguez was arrested and taken to the Laramie County Detention Center without incident.
She was subsequently charged with strangulation of a household member, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and misdemeanor domestic battery.
Rodriguez Out on Bond After Posting $2K
Rodriguez made her initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Friday, Nov. 15.
Judge Sean C. Chambers set Rodriguez's bond at $2,000 cash and she posted it on Monday, Nov. 18.
Rodriguez is scheduled to be back in Circuit Court for her preliminary hearing on Monday, Nov. 25 at 11:30 a.m.
