Cheyenne Weather Service Office: Frostbite Possible In 10 Minutes
The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service says brutally cold conditions across southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle this morning poses an extreme frostbite danger.
The service issued this statement on Thursday morning:
Extremely dangerous, life-threatening wind chills are ongoing across southeast Wyoming & the western Nebraska Panhandle this morning. Many areas are experiencing wind chills of 25 to 35 degrees below zero, with some areas even approaching wind chills of -50! Frostbite can develop very quickly in these conditions, perhaps in as little as 5 minutes. Take extra precautions if spending any time outdoors this morning. Dress appropriately for extreme cold, dressing in layers and wearing a winter hat and mittens. If traveling, carry extra blankets in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Don’t forget about your furry friends in these extreme conditions!
