Cheyenne Transient Accused of Physically Attacking Police Officer
A 44-year-old Cheyenne transient has been charged with a felony after allegedly physically attacking a police officer.
According to a booking sheet, the officer contacted Amber Rae Espinoza in the roadway near West Lincolnway and O'Neil Avenue around 9:30 a.m. on Friday, July 14, after receiving reports about Espinoza trying to start fights with people.
Espinoza reportedly refused the officer's commands, pulled away several times when the officer tried to handcuff her, and then began physically attacking the officer, grabbing the officer's neck and hair.
When backup arrived, Espinoza and the officer were reportedly on the ground and Espinoza was hanging onto the officer's hair refusing to let go.
Due to her uncooperative nature, Espinoza was placed in "The Wrap" (a temporary restraining device) and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center.
She was subsequently charged with causing bodily injury to a peace officer and walking along a roadway or highway when there is a sidewalk provided.
