Cheyenne Teen Charged With Assaulting Pregnant Girlfriend
A 19-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after allegedly assaulting his pregnant girlfriend.
According to a booking sheet, deputies with the Laramie County Sheriff's Office were called to the 300 block of Pleasant Valley Trail around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, for a domestic physical involving a knife.
An investigation found that Mitchell Clayton Ammons, who was located on the ground, caused bodily injury to his girlfriend whom he knew was pregnant.
Ammons was arrested and taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for jail clearance and subsequently charged with aggravated assault and battery on a pregnant woman, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
He made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Monday morning, during which his bond was set at $5,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 15 at 2:30 p.m.
