Cheyenne Police Find Nearly 38 Grams of Meth During Traffic Stop
A 31-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after police reportedly caught him with methamphetamine.
Traffic Stop Leads to Meth Bust
According to a booking sheet, Tarrence McDougall was arrested at 3:35 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, after police stopped him at East 9th Street and Central Avenue.
It's alleged that McDougall was in possession of 37.98 grams of methamphetamine.
McDougall was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center and subsequently charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, a crime punishable by up to seven years in prison, up to a $15,000 fine, or both.
Initial Court Appearance
On Friday, Oct. 31, McDougall was seen in Laramie County Circuit Court in front of Judge Sean C. Chambers on the charge.
Chambers appointed McDougall a public defender then asked for the state's bond recommendation.
"Mr. McDougall has a history of similar offenses, including possession related convictions from 2013, 2017, and 2017," the state said. "It certainly gives the state concern for the safety of the community."
"Mr. McDougall also has a failure to appear from 2013 and a probation violation from 2022, which gives the state concern for his ability and willingness to comply with court orders," the state added. "For those reasons the state believes that a cash bond is appropriate and would request $4,000 cash."
Bond Set at $4K Cash
"I'm going to set a $4,000 cash only bond," Chambers told McDougall. "If you're able to post that I will set conditions."

McDougall's next court appearance is for a preliminary hearing that will be on Friday, Nov. 7, at 10:30 a.m.
Please remember that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
