Cheyenne Teen Charged in Friend’s Death Scheduled for Arraignment
An arraignment is scheduled Friday morning for the Cheyenne teen accused of shooting and killing his friend in a garage on Drew Court a month ago.
Eighteen-year-old Austin Daniel is facing an involuntary manslaughter charge in connection with the September 17 shooting death of 19-year-old Mark Dreiman.
Laramie County Sheriff's Department Detective Ryan Martinez says Daniel told him that he and Dreiman were messing around with his handgun and he took it away from him after Dreiman racked a round into the chamber.
Daniel told Martinez that he removed the magazine from the gun, but forgot about the bullet being in the chamber and accidentally shot Dreiman.
Daniel, who fled the scene after the shooting, was arrested on September 21 after detectives found him at the Rodeo Inn on East Lincolnway. He is facing up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
