What Will Your Cheyenne Stormwater Fee Be? Here’s How To Find Out
The City of Cheyenne will be implementing stormwater fees on Jan. 1, 2026.
If you are a property owner who is wondering what sort of fees to expect, the City of Cheyenne has a new map that should help clear things up.
How To Find Out What Your Stormwater Fees Will Be
That's according to a city of Cheyenne news release. You can access the map here.
According to the release, fees will be determined by the amount of hard,, non-porous surface on the property. That commonly could include things like buildings, driveways and concrete surfaces. The release says most of the fees will run less than $10 per month.
According to the release: "Cheyenne’s stormwater system reduces flooding risk and hazards in the city. It includes 135 miles of storm sewer drainage pipes with thousands of inlet points, 25 miles of open channels and creeks, and hundreds of detention ponds. This infrastructure requires regular maintenance and improvements, ranging from channel dredging to inlet maintenance to system upgrades."
The Cheyenne City Council in December 2024 decided to implement the fee system to pay for the stormwater system and it's infrastructure. The new fees are expected to raise about $6 million per year citywide to pay for the system.
