Cheyenne Man Facing 5-35 Years for Robbery, Aggravated Burglary
A 39-year-old Cheyenne man is being held on a $10,000 cash bond after being charged with robbery and aggravated burglary.
According to a booking sheet, police arrested Michael Santos Gonzales at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center at 214 E. 23rd St. at 8:23 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 22.

Gonzales was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center and subsequently charged with robbery - inflicts bodily injury upon another, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and aggravated burglary - knowingly or recklessly inflicts bodily injury on anyone, a felony punishable by five to 25 years in prison, up to a $50,000 fine, or both.
Initial Court Appearance
On Tuesday, Aug. 26, Gonzales was seen in Laramie County Circuit Court in front of Judge Antoinette Williams on the charges.
Williams appointed Gonzales a public defender and asked for the state's position regarding bond.
A Lengthy Criminal History
"The violent nature of these offenses certainly gives the state concern for the safety of the victim," the state said. "Mr. Gonzales also has a history of assaultive behavior from 2005, 2007, as well as 2020. That history gives the state further concern for the safety of the victim as well as the safety of the community."
"Mr. Gonzales also has a history of probation violations from 2009 and failure to appears from 2017 which gives the state concern for his ability to comply with this court's orders, especially in light of the significant underlying penalty in these charges," the state added. "For those reasons the state believes that a cash bond is appropriate and would request $5,000 cash."
Bond Set at $10K Cash
Williams set Gonzales' bond at $10,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was set for Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 2:15 p.m.
Please remember that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
