Cheyenne Police Arrest Trio For Trying To Steal An ATM
Three people are behind bars on a variety of charges after being arrested in connection with an attempted theft of an Automated Teller Machine [ATM] according to Cheyenne Police.
CPD spokeswoman Alex Farkas says police were sent to an alarm at 3 a.m. on Saturday, December 2 at UniWyo Federal Credit Union at 5249 Yellowstone Road.
When police arrived, they found a damaged ATM that appeared to be missing cash boxes. An officer followed tire tracks from the scene to the intersection of Education Drive and Manewal Drive and found a Ford F250 truck with a large chain attached to the rear hitch.
The vehicle, which police later discovered had been stolen, was unoccupied in the middle of the street with a punched-out ignition. At the same time, another officer saw a vehicle speeding near the intersection of Central and West 8th Avenue.
The officer turned in his lights and siren and tried to stop the speeding vehicle, a Nissan Murano with four people inside. The car refused to stop, speeding south on Central Avenue with the officer chasing it.
The officer saw a passenger later identified as 19-year-old London Beaudoin, of Houston, Texas [above right], throwing cash boxes out the window of the Nissan. A male passenger got out of the car and ran away. The Nissan then turned onto West 28th Street and hit a curb, making the vehicle inoperable.
Police conducted a high-risk stop and ordered the three people in the car to get out. The driver, later identified as 41-year-old Christopher Parish, of Houston Texas [above left photo] got out and ran toward the back of the car. Parish ignored police orders to stop, but an officer stopped him using a taser.
Police arrest the two people still in the car, London Beaudoin and 20-year-old Leo Smith of Houston [above middle photo]. Smith was found to have a nationwide extraditable warrant from Tarrant County, Texas for probation revocation on an original charge of ATM theft. Farkas says the three were arrested on the following charges:
• Christopher Parish: Motor vehicle theft, destruction of property greater than $1,000, burglary, conspiracy.
• Leo Smith: Nationwide extraditable warrant, burglary, theft over $1,000, destruction of property greater than $1,000, conspiracy.
• London Beaudoin: Burglary, destruction of property greater than $1,000, conspiracy.
Officers and deputies with the Laramie County Sheriff's Office used a K9 to try to find the fourth person, believed to be a male, who ran away.
They weren't able to find him and the case remains under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department Detective Bureau.
