Laflan was subsequently charged with aggravated assault and battery on a corrections or detention officer - propels any dangerous substance, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison, up to a $5,000 fine, or both.

Initial Court Appearance

On Tuesday, Dec. 2, Laflan was seen in Laramie County Circuit Court in front of Judge Antoinette Williams on the charge.

The public defender already representing Laflan said she was fine with handling the case and Laflan's preliminary hearing was set for Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 2:15 p.m.

Williams then asked for the state's position regarding bond.

"Obviously the court is well aware Ms. Laflan is having a rough year," the state said. "I think she was given a bond of $15,000 on an aggravated assault which is why she was in the jail and given that she's committing the same crime now on some of the jail staff, the state thinks that a cash bond is required again in this matter but would defer to the court in the amount."

"That is correct," said Laflan's attorney. "Her bond was originally set at $15,000, however, I believe that that was modified to $2,000 by the court ... and that it was concurrent to her other cases because she has two other probation revocations pending."

"Additionally, I believe that that felony is being amended to a misdemeanor, however, that's not taken place yet," she added. "So, I would ask that her bond be set at $2,000 cash concurrent to all of her other cases."

Consecutive $2K Cash Bond

"The court's going to set the bond in this case at $2,000 cash," said Williams. "It is not concurrent to the other cases because that is combining misdemeanors and felonies and that's not going to work if this is bound over to District Court."

Please remember that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
