A 22-year-old Cheyenne woman on probation for drug possession and domestic battery could face up to 10 years in prison after picking up an aggravated assault charge.

Erratic Driving Leads to Aggravated Assault Charge

According to a booking sheet, Adriana Marie Laflan was arrested at 9:46 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, after police stopped her at East 6th Street and Duff Avenue.

The arresting officer says Laflan was "driving erratic in neighborhoods" and had to be tased.

Laflan was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center for interference with a peace officer - no injury and reckless endangering - conduct, both misdemeanors.

The following day, Nov. 10, she was charged with aggravated assault and battery - causes or attempts to cause serious bodily injury to another, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Initial Court Appearance

On Wednesday, Nov. 12, Laflan was seen in Laramie County Circuit Court in front of Judge Antoinette Williams on the charge.

Probation Violation

Laflan was also seen on a misdemeanor warrant for probation violation, alleging that on or about Oct. 25, she was placed on probation after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance and domestic battery, and violated the conditions of her probation by being charged with aggravated assault.

Williams appointed Laflan a public defender and set her preliminary hearing and probation revocation arraignment for Friday, Nov. 21, at 9:45 a.m.

Williams then asked for the state's position regarding bond.

"The state would request $15,000," the state said. "This was a felony charge. Ms. Laflan is already on probation. I think that there's obviously a concern for the safety of the community as well as her prior track record with this court and would require some sort of cash bond to ensure her compliance with any bond conditions that are set."

Bond Set at $15K Cash

"Your bond is $15,000 cash," Williams told Laflan. "If you post that, I'll set your bond conditions."

Please remember that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
