
Fire At Cheyenne Historic Pumphouse Being Investigated
Cheyenne Police and Cheyenne Fire Rescue [CFR] fire inspectors are looking into a Saturday night blaze at the Cheyenne Historic Pumphouse at 1504 Dillon Avenue.
That's according to a CFR news release
According to the release, a report of a fire was received just before 9:30 p.m. Engine 1 arrived on the scene t 9:32 p.m.. Firefighters saw heavy smoke and fire coming from the roof of the old building.

By 10:46 p.m., crews had put out the fire using "using aerial master streams, handlines, and coordinated defensive fire attack operations. The structure was thoroughly searched, confirming no occupants were present. No injuries were reported".
Fire crews remained on the scene into the next day, just to make sure it did not reignite.
Crews have also boarded up the structure "to secure the site and to ensure public safety."
The Pumphouse Was Built In the 1890s
According to the City of Cheyenne website, "The structure was completed in 1892 on land the City purchased from the UP. It functioned as a supplement to the City's original pumphouse at 28th and Central and was officially known as the City Water Works, West Side Pumping Station."
