Cheyenne Fire Rescue Saves Man Trapped In Flooding
Cheyenne Fire Rescue was called out at 6 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, on a report of a man trapped in floodwaters due to a water main break on Gregg Way
That's according to a post on the agency's Facebook page.
The driver had tried to drive through standing water, but didn't know how deep it was. He got trapped in his vehicle and stranded in the floodwaters.
According to the post: "Battalion 1, Engine 4, and Ladder 1 were dispatched to the incident. Utilizing Ladder 1’s aerial ladder, CFR crews successfully rescued the stranded driver. No injuries were reported.
This incident highlights the skill, teamwork, and adaptability of our firefighters as they work to protect our community, even in challenging and potentially dangerous conditions"
Incident Illustrates Dangers Of Driving Through Flooded Areas
The driver was not identified, but the post reminds people that it's never a good idea to try to drive through a flooded area. As happened in this case, the water can be deeper than it looks, and it's best not to take chances.
