Cheyenne Man Accused of Threatening Stranger With Handgun

A 42-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after allegedly threatening a stranger with a handgun.

According to a booking sheet, police arrested Michael Douglas Lambert II at the Blue Beacon Truck Wash at 2311 Etchepare Dr. at 8:20 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18.

Lambert was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center and subsequently charged with aggravated assault and battery - threatens to use a drawn deadly weapon, a crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Initial Court Appearance

The following afternoon, Sept. 19, Lambert was seen in Laramie County Circuit Court in front of Judge Sean C. Chambers on the charge.

Lambert told Chambers he intended to hire his own attorney, and his preliminary hearing was set for Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 1:30 p.m.

Chambers then asked for the state's bond recommendation.

"Mr. Lambert has a limited criminal history; however, the state finds it of note that he has a criminal threatening conviction in 2001 which seems to be similar in nature to this charge," the state said.

"The state would also note that this aggravated assault with a deadly weapon was committed upon a stranger," the state added. "That gives the state concern for the safety of the community ... and the state would recommend a $3,000 cash bond."

"I don't think that charge in 2001 pertains to me," Lambert told Chambers.

Out on Bond

Chambers set Lambert's bond at $3,000 cash or surety, which he later posted.
