Central Wyoming Rodeo with 5 Perf’s in the Books
There's one more performance to go at the Central Wyoming Rodeo in Casper: the championship short-go on Saturday night at the Fairgrounds. The top 12 in each event qualified for the short go and in the bareback, Keenen Hayes of Hayden, Colorado comes in with the top score of 87.5 Roedy Farrell of Thermopolis, Donny Proffit from Kemmerer, Kaycee's Ethan Mazurenko and Buffalo's Cole Reiner all made it to the short go.
In the saddle bronc, the leader coming into the final performance is Statler Wright from Beaver, Utah with an 83.5. Tanner Butner from Daniel, Joe Priebe out of Cody, Bailey Small from Rock Springs, and Ira Dickinson of Rock Springs will also be up in the short go.
Over in bull riding, Ernie Courson Jr from Okeechobee, Florida made quite an impression as he leaped to the top of the leaderboard on Friday night with an 87. He also showed his athleticism with a back flip off the barrel to celebrate that effort.
Stetson Jourgensen from Blackfoot, Idaho will come into Saturday's round leading the steer wrestling. Jace Mayfield from Midwest made the final 12 in this event. Hagen Houck from Comanche, Oklahoma has the best qualifying time in the tie-down roping.
In the team roping event, the top pair heading to the short go is Erich Rogers from Round Rock, Arizona, and Paul Eves from Londell, Missouri. Kellen and Carson Johnson from Casper made the final 12 as well as Pedro Egurrola from Douglas and Cory Petska from Marana, Arizona.
In the barrel, Tillar King from Fort Worth, Texas has the #1 spot going into the finals with Dona Rule of Minco, Oklahoma winning the first go-round. Saturday's performance at the Central Wyoming Fairgrounds begins at 7:30.
