ESPN To Broadcast From Cheyenne Frontier Days Later This Month
The best known national cable sports network has announced plans to broadcast from Cheyenne Frontier Days as part of its ''50 States In 50 Days" promotion.
ESPN's flagship "SportsCenter" program will broadcast from the "Daddy of 'em All" on July 24.
It will also mark a homecoming for ESPN'S Gary Striewski, who got his start in television with Cheyenne's KGWN television in 2010.
Cheyenne Frontier Days An Obvious Choice To Represent Wyoming
Cheyenne Frontier Days is a natural choice for the sport's network's Wyoming broadcast from each U.S. state. It's the world's largest outdoor rodeo and one of the most prestigious events in the sport of rodeo. Frontier Days draws top cowboys and cowgirls from around the nation.
It's a slam dunk in terms of name recognition and status within a national sport to represent Wyoming, which has no Major League Baseball. NFL NBA or National Hockey League teams.
The July 24 SportsCenter broadcast is slated to get underway at 9 p.m. Mountain Time. The program offers a rundown of the top sports stories and scores from the day in sports, covering everything from tennis to golf to the NFL.
While Cheyenne Frontier Days is already a top event in rodeo, the SportsCenter event will introduce Cheyenne to a wider audience of people who are sports fans but may not follow rodeo. The program is estimated to reach several hundred thousand people on an average broadcast.
