Cheyenne East High School senior Abigail Erickson has been named the Laramie County School District#1 Student of the Week.

A release from the district praised Abigail as an exemplary student who is also actively involved in the community:

"Erickson is ranked No. 1 in her senior class at East High School and has taken very rigorous courses. She is involved with East High’s varsity basketball and soccer teams. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the East High G-Team.

According to members of the selection committee, “Even with all the attention this brings upon Abby, she is extraordinarily humble and kind to everyone.”

In her free time, Erickson teaches summer religious education, serves on the Holy Trinity Parish council and is a volunteer coach for Topps, soccer for disabled children, and U4 soccer. She is also a camp coach for the East High School youth basketball camp.

Erickson received a Trustee scholarship at the University of Wyoming where she plans to earn her bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. She then plans to pursue a law degree to work as a patent attorney.

“She is truly a dynamic individual who will be greatly missed at East,” members of the selection committee said.''
