Wyoming Man Accused of Having Meth Around Child Out on Bond

A 28-year-old Gillette man is facing felony charges after a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper responding to a possible domestic violence incident found him in possession of methamphetamine.

According to arrest records, the trooper was called to milepost 27 on Interstate 25 north of Cheyenne on Friday, June 2, for a report of a physical fight inside a vehicle with a child inside.

When the trooper arrived, he observed a male, later identified as Ramey L. Thompson, walking along the service road talking on the phone and the vehicle with the woman next to it.

The trooper advised Thompson that he was going to place him in the cage of his patrol vehicle without handcuffs and he complied.

When the trooper patted Thompson down, he found a glass pipe and a baggie of suspected methamphetamine in Thompson's pocket.

Thompson was subsequently arrested and charged with keeping a child where methamphetamine is manufactured or stored and felony possession of methamphetamine.

Thompson is currently out of jail after posting a $3,000 cash bond and is scheduled to be back in Laramie County Circuit Court next Wednesday, June 14, at 3:30 p.m. for his preliminary hearing.
