Wyoming Legion Baseball Class A 2020 State Tournament Scoreboard

The Wyoming American Legion Baseball Class ‘A’ 2020 State Tournament is in Powell at Ed Lynn Field and runs Aug. 1-5.

It’s an eight-team, double-elimination bracket. The Cheyenne Hawks are the defending Class ‘A’ State Champions.

With no regional tournament this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this will conclude the Single-A Wyoming Department of American Legion Baseball season.

Here’s a look at the match-ups for the ‘A’ State Tournament:

Saturday, Aug. 1: (this is listed based on how the sides of the bracket look)

Game 1: Final Score: (W2) Cody Cubs 5 (E3) Torrington Tigers 0 - Engdahl tosses a 5-hit shutout.

Game 3: Final Score: (E1) Casper Crush 10 (W4) Green River Knights 5 - Barr with 4 hits & 2 RBI's. Wilcox added 2 hits & 3 RBI's.

Game 2: Final Score: (E2) Douglas Cats 10 (W3) Riverton Raiders 5 - Ollie 3 hits & 2 RBI's, while Robles adds 2 doubles & 2 RBI's for the Cats.

Game 4: Final Score: (W1) Powell Pioneers 6 (E4) Cheyenne Hawks 0 - Colin Queen tosses a 2-hit shutout with 7 strikeouts.

Sunday, Aug. 2:

Game 5: Final Score: Torrington 9 Green River 5 (loser out) - Green River is eliminated - a 6-run 3rd-inning put the Tigers in front for good; Lofink with 2 hits & 3 RBI's.

Game 6: Final Score: Cheyenne Hawks 6 Riverton 4 (loser out) - Riverton is eliminated. Hawks took advantage of 5 Riverton errors. Bohlmann with 2 hits & an RBI.

Game 7: Final Score: Cody 10 Casper Crush 5 - Cubs got out to an 8-0 lead and hold the Crush. Engdahl with 3 hits & 2 RBI's, while Schroder adds 2 hits & 2 RBI's.

Game 8: Final Score: Douglas 15 Powell 5 - Cats broke it open with a 10-run 4th inning. M. Bobrowski with 3 hits & 2 RBI's.

Monday, Aug. 3:

Game 9: Final Score: Casper Crush 16 Cheyenne Hawks 10 (loser out) - Cheyenne is eliminated - Crush scored 12 runs in the 4th and 5th to take control. Nipper with 4 hits & 6 RBI's, while Douglass homered for Casper.

Game 10: Final Score: Torrington 7 Powell 3 (loser out) - Powell is eliminated - Firminhac with 2 hits (3B) & 4 RBI's for the Tigers, who took control with a 5-run 2nd inning.

Game 11: Final Score: Cody 9 Douglas 5 - Cody led 3-0 on a Blatt home run. Douglas came back with 4 in the 1st. Cody took the lead back in the 3rd and held it the rest of the way. Schroeder has 3 hits (2B) and 2 RBI's for the Cubs.

Tuesday, Aug. 4: Pairings for these two games will try not match previous opponents against each other.

Game 12: Final Score: Casper 11 Douglas 5 (loser out) - Douglas is eliminated - Wilcox hits for the cycle and drives in 3 runs for Casper, while Douglass adds 3 hits, incl. a HR & 4 RBI's.

Game 13: Final Score: Torrington 11 Cody 2 - Dreiling & Keith allowed 2 runs on 8 hits on the mound. Firminhac had 3 hits to the lead the Tigers, while four others had 2 apiece. Three Tigers finished with 2 RBI's each.

(Note: If 3 teams remain with one loss after Game 13, the winner of Game 11 will automatically be drawn into the championship)

Wednesday, Aug. 5:

Game 14: Final Score: Casper 10 Torrington 5 - Crush had a 6-run 4th that put them in control. Wilcox with 2 hits & 3 RBI's.

Game 15: State Championship Game: Final Score: Cody 12 Casper 10 [8 inns.] - Cubs rally with 4 runs in the 6th to force a tie. Tied 7-7 after seven innings. Cody scores 5 in the top of the 8th. Crush scored 2 in the 8th but the rally falls short. Cody wins the Single-A title. Jared Grenz with 2 hits & 5 RBI's, while Engdahl adds 2 hits & 4 RBI's.
