The Cheyenne Sixers continued their domination of Wyoming Legion Baseball's 'AA' class on Friday in Sheridan. They beat Gillette, 4-0.

It was the third consecutive state championship for the Sixers and their 19th in the last 22 seasons.

Cheyenne's Colter McAnelly had a state championship game record 19 strikeouts in the victory. He allowed two hits and two walks. He got 15 Gillette batters swinging and four were caught looking at strike three. McAnelly threw 105 pitches in the win.

Julian Romero from Cheyenne was named the 'AA' State Tournament MVP.

Cheyenne broke through in the top of the second inning on a Kaden Anderson RBI single to left field. They added two runs in the fourth on an RBI double from Dominic Lopez and an RBI single by Ethan Reisdorfer. Lopez added a second RBI double in the fifth inning that provided the final margin.

Cheyenne and Gillette continue their seasons at the 2022 Northwest Regional Tournament in Gillette on Aug. 3-7, 2022. The Sixers will open the tournament versus Eagle River, AK. Gillette will play the state champion from Montana.

Cheyenne's game starts at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3, while Gillette's game will follow.
