The Wyoming House killed House Bill 186, the lottery bill, on a 27-33 third reading vote Wednesday.  The bill, sponsored by Cheyenne Representative Dave Zwonitzer,  would have set up a quasi-public corporation authorized to run a Wyoming-only lottery or join a multi-state lottery system. Opponents of the bill said the bill would disproportiately take money from low-income residents and questioned whether or not the bill would be the revenue generator the proponents claimed. Supporters of the bill said it would bring in millions to the state and that residents now travel to neighboring states to buy lottery tickets.
