UPDATE (8:11 a.m. Friday)

As of 6 a.m., WYDOT estimates I-80 between Rock Springs and Rawlins could reopen at roughly 4-6 p.m.

================================================================

A stretch of Interstate 80 in southern Wyoming which was closed Wednesday night is set to stay closed for another night, likely not reopening until late Friday morning.

In a 3 p.m. Thursday update, the Wyoming Department of Transportation said the estimated opening time for I-80 between Rock Springs and Rawlins has been revised to 18-20 hours.

"Our crews have worked last night and today and will continue to work overnight to clear hazardous drifts away from I-80 near the Riner Road exit," WYDOT said.

Earlier Thursday, WYDOT crews reported dealing with snow drifts which were three to five feet deep, some roughly a mile long.

I-80 eastbound from Evanston to Rock Springs, as well as I-80 westbound from Cheyenne to Rawlins, are also closed and were estimated to reopen when the Rock Springs to Rawlins stretch is cleared.

WYDOT said that webcams may not reflect current road conditions. For the latest road conditions, visit Wyoroad.info or download the Wyoming 511 app.
