As of 11:15 Monday morning, Interstate 80 was closed in both directions between Rock Springs and Laramie.

That's according to the Wyoming Department Of Transportation [WYDOT] road conditions report. The estimated opening time according to the WYDOT page is somewhere around 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19 for the stretch between Rawlins and Laramie. The page says the stretch between Rawlins and Rock Springs could open between 10 p.m. tonight [May 18] and 12 a.m. on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, I-80 Westbound was closed between Cheyenne and Laramie for a rolling closure. That closure is expected to end between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

Blizzard Warning Issued For Part Of Interstate

The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for part of Interstate 80


Meanwhile, Carbon County Sheriff Alex Bakken has issued a statement on Facebook about the impact of the Winter Storm:

We are currently experienced prolonged power outages and limited transport capability across Rawlins and central Carbon County.
We have established an incident command post and are in communications with partnering county agencies.
Please note that the hospital is open and available for anyone who needs oxygen or power for a medical device. Please know we are here to support your medical needs and provide assistance during this time.
If you need transport to MHCC, please notify the sheriff’s office or Rawlins Police Department. Carbon County SAR volunteers are standing by to help transport.
Interstate 25 was listed as wet with rain, but was open at last report shortly before noon.
