A crash has forced the closure of Interstate 80 between Rawlins and Cheyenne, the Wyoming Department of Transportation says.

The summit of Pikes Peak is currently closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic; it will not reopen to visitors until Sunday, May 23.

The crash occurred shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday.

The Cheyenne Animal Shelter has temporarily closed its doors after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

The National Weather Service warned that power lines and numerous tree branches were expected to be brought down by the storm.

An employee told K2 Radio News that local managers would not make a statement, which is typical.

The incident remains under investigation, Veress said.

Beyond the impacted Wyoming facilities, the diesel shop in Glendive, Montana will be permanently closed.

Very few other Montana schools are taking the option of reopening on Thursday.
